Can cinnamon and honey cure an open wound?
by Rose
QUESTION: My father is diabetic, and has often goes cut (he works as a batcher). I noticed his wounds are really hard to heal, can cinnamon and honey cure his open wound? How can I help him?
ANSWER: Hi Rose,
You can use cinnamon to help your father's blood sugar levels come down and get optimized. In addition, cinnamon tincture can be used on wounds with the aid of sterile gauzes as it serves as poultice for wounds.
However, you need to take your doctors advice before using to treat your father's wounds. Perhaps, he might need other safety precautions.
With regards to Diabetic Ketoacidosis honey, some studies have shown its anti-inflammation properties (fighting inflamed or infected skin) and also in wound healing as it acts as peroxide oxygen.
In case of your diabetic father, honey will also help blood tissues in the affected skin to get the glucose they need for their normal activity; therefore, enhancing the healing process.
I lack the knowledge of any honey-cinnamon kit for wound treatment.
All the best!
